As the Friends theme
song goes, so no one told you life was gonna be this way? Unfortunately for
those of us on the homo side of the Kinsey scale, there’s no user manual for
being gay, and our many of our life lessons are hard-earned.
So what things about being
queer no one told you about?
Is it:
You thought when you came
out, it was a one-and-done type deal?
How life
really starts to diverge from your heterosexual counterparts as you get older?
A lot of vacation spots are off
limits?
Being gay
doesn’t mean we won’t be assholes to each other?
How lonely
being gay actually is?
How harsh and
judgmental some gays are towards each other?
How isolating
it can be if you’re not into the arts/culture/theatre scene?
If you’re into
sports/cars/outdoors, how do you find a group of friends where you really fit in?
How uninviting
the gay ‘community’ really is?
Just how
expensive it is to live a fabulous gay lifestyle?
That sex and
hookups come easy, but genuine relationships and intimacy are hard to get?
What items did I miss on this
list?
