NETFLIX CANCELS NEIL PATRICK HARRIS' LGBTQ+ SERIES UNCOUPLED

Neil Patrick Harris’ LGBTQ+ TV series Uncoupled has been cancelled by Netflix after one season. 

Back in July, the streamer released the eight-episode romantic comedy to queer viewers worldwide. 

The show, which was created by Younger’s Darren Star, followed “successful New York City real estate agent” Michael Lawson (Harris), whose seemingly perfect life gets turned upside down after his long-term boyfriend Colin (Tuc Watkins) leaves him after 17 years. 

“Overnight, he has to confront two nightmares: losing the man he thought was his soulmate and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-forties in New York City,” the synopsis reads.

Alongside Harris and Watkins, Tisha Campbell, Marcia Gay Harden, Emerson Brooks, and Brooks Ashmanskas also starred in the series.  

Upon its release, Uncoupled received acclaim from critics and viewers for its Sex and the City vibe and dynamic comedic storylines.  

However despite the glowing reviews and the first season ending with multiple cliffhangers, Netflix pulled the plug on the LGBTQ+ inclusive show (per Variety). 

In an additional report from Deadline, a source told the publication that the show’s producers – MTV Entertainment Studios – attempted to shop the series around to other networks before the cancellation was announced. 

While Harris and the rest of the cast have refrained from releasing a statement, fans have already taken to social media to express their disappointment over the streamer’s decision.

 One viewer tweeted: “What the actual f**k Netflix? Cancelling Uncoupled, WHY? Please please, pleaseeeee, some other network pick it up. We need a season 2.”

Another person wrote: “I’m actually really disappointed and concerned with Netflix canceling #Uncoupled Tisha Campbell, sex and the city vibes, and gay content that’s not corny. I hate getting invested in shows.”

Over the last few months, queer consumers have slammed the streamer after it pulled an array of its LGBTQ+ inclusive shows after one or two seasons.  

On 13 January, fans of Dead End: Paranormal Park were left devastated when creator Hamish Steele revealed that Netflix cancelled the trans-led animated series. 

In a lengthy statement, the showrunner said that he “held onto the news for a while now”, hoping that he could “reverse” the streamer’s decision: “But sadly, I don’t think that’s possible right now. It’s with a heavy heart that I tell you Dead End is over.”

In addition to Uncoupled and Dead End: Paranormal Park, other LGBTQ+-led shows – including 1899, Warrior Nun, First Kill, Half Bad: The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, and Q-Force – have also been cancelled.

BEST MAN SERIES FEATURES A TURBULENT NON-BINARY COMING-OUT STORYLINE

Black icons reunite for this beloved franchise, and the new miniseries includes an LGBTQ+ arc.

Twenty-three years after the beloved movie The Best Man premiered, Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan, Regina Hall, Morris Chestnut, Melissa De Sousa, Harold Perrineau, and Terrance Howard have reunited for a Peacock series, The Best Man: The Final Chapters.

If you watched the original two films, all the familial and friend drama is back and at full force as the group prepares for the book Taye Diggs' character Harper wrote in the original film, Unfinished Business, is getting turned into a movie. We also meet LJ, the teenage child of Chesnut's character Lance Sullivan.

Light spoilers ahead...

Toward the beginning of the season, LJ comes out to Lance as nonbinary. Confusion ensues as many of the friends in their 50s can't wrap their heads around the concept, especially Lance. For the time the show spans, Lance refuses to use LJ's preferred pronouns of they/them and the group heatedly debates how to refer to LJ and how they should be referred to.

Lance, a former professional football player still grieving the death of his wife and clinging to his fame, is holding on tight to the masculine idea of who his child should be, desperate for them to follow in their athletic footsteps, and refuses to acknowledge LJ's nonbinary identity in any way. Eventually, their headbutting reaches a boiling point and in episode 7, LJ runs away.

As LGBTQ+ youth have an upsetting history of homelessness and self-harm, Lance assumes the worst and completely melts down the longer LJ's been gone. Lance visits his departed wife's grave and finally realizes that he's "failing our son." He asks God to "please help me understand LJ. Change me."

Finally, LJ is found at an LGBTQ+ friendly church. Lance sits in the pew next to his child and LJ emotionally shares their thoughts as they hold up a bible.

"The first thing I learned in this book was that God loves me," they begin, "except the real me wasn't welcome. If I'm not welcome in God's house or my own house, where do I go?" LJ goes on to say that this church saved their life. "How is it that God can love me unconditionally dad, but you can't?"

Finally, it breaks through to Lance, and his 180-degree turn is beautiful to witness.

RA'JAH O'HARA THANKS RuPAUL, SILKY & DRAG RACE IN BEAUTIFUL POST

This may be the last of my drag race journey, but it’s not the end.

Ra'Jah O'Hara is simply the best!

Ahead of the grand finale of Canada's Drag Race: Canada vs the World, O'Hara handed out some thank yous to the competition series that changed her life.

O'Hara says that she "had to take a break from social to reconnect to myself! I was getting lost in the noise… in Montreal to celebrate the closing of this chapter with my sisters! I have so many thoughts but pride is the main feeling!"

Then she rewinds a bit. "Started my Drag Race journey knowing I had what it took but the outcome wasn’t in my favor but here we are three seasons later and I’m waiting to see if this time will be the moment! Win lose or draw I know that I’m enough without a doubt."

O'Hara thanked RuPaul and the Drag Race franchise "for the growing pains, breaking my hard shell and allowing me to truly show myself in a way that was authentic" and "for allowing me to take on the world." 

"This may be the last of my drag race journey but it’s not the end of my journey so stay tuned and thank you for the love, the hate, for doubting me, allowing me to prove the world wrong and for the memories," she said.

The All Stars 6 star then addressed her top four sisters from Canada vs the World. "Y’all mean so much to me and I’m so proud of all of us! We put our ART where our HEART is and have made yet another wonderful season! Without y’all it wouldn’t be the same so take pride in the journey."

She then tagged Victoria Scone, Silky Nutmeg Ganache, and Rita Baga. "We did it y’all! We cried, laughed, sang and left a piece of us in that werq room What an honor to be counted amongst your talents - sisters for life."

She specifically thanks Ganache, her "bday twin, sister from another mister I’m not gonna cry again but what can I say! Every step of the way you’ve been there. On/off the stage/tv the way you’ve held me down and lifted me up I don’t take for granted!"

"Thanks for being a real sister, praying for me, celebrating, encouraging me and pulling me back off the ledge! Having three times competing together has just solidified our bond in herstory! #teamusa now let’s give 'em a show and show them who tf WE ARE!"

Episode five of The White Lotus season two has broken the series' all-time viewership records this past weekend after a shocking twist that ended with a very gay bang!

Overall, a lot of mystery still hangs in the air. Is Jack really Quentin's nephew or a hired escort with an excellent cover? Will Tanya tell her assistant, who is in the midst of a vacation fling with Jack? And are these rich gays really just hanging out with Tanya, or do they have something more sinister in the works?

With only two seasons, the Mike White series is becoming one of HBO's most successful – and LGBTQ+ inclusive – programs. According to Variety, episode five of season two was watched 2.3 million times, more than any previous episode of the series.

Only two episodes of The White Lotus season two are left, the next one is titled "Abductions", so who knows what we'll witness next. Episode one did promise the death of at least one of the characters, so keep your fingers crossed that your favorite vacationer (Aubrey Plaza, I'm looking at you!) makes it out alive!

While it deals with adult themes of sex, drugs, and murder, we wouldn't quite call the show disturbing. It's not especially violent or graphic, but it certainly features mature themes and content.

WE'RE HERE'S SEASON 3 IS THE HBO SERIES' MOST TOUCHING & TERRIFYING OUTING YET

PRIDE chatted with Bob the Drag Queen, Shangela, and Eureka about small-town heroes, villains, and the inherent joy of glamour.

In season nine of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Eureka O’Hara famously declared “stakes are high, hearts are pounding, buttholes are clenched.” Beyond being utterly memeable, that’s an accurate description of We’re Here’s heart-pounding and heartwarming season three premiere episodes which saw its iconic queens Eureka, Shangela, and Bob the Drag Queen, visiting Granbury, Texas — a place that didn’t want them there and wasn’t afraid to let them know, sometimes with threats of violence.

The stakes were indeed high, hearts were pounding, and well, you know the rest.

But if you thought you saw it all in the episode, that was just the beginning, as Bob the Drag Queen tells PRIDE. “There are a lot of times our teams felt very unsafe being in this town because baby this may shock you but we’re actually not the most flamboyant people on the We’re Here team. Queens and fairies and dandelions are behind the scenes of We’re Here. And a lot of them felt really uncomfortable,” he recalls. “There were signs around town that were like if you’re a part of this show, don’t come in here. Signs right on the front of businesses like if you’re a part of this We’re Here business don’t come in here... it was scary.], sometimes it was genuinely terrifying.”

However, the three of them (and their teams) didn’t let the intimidation stop them, because the reality is thay not only is the show highly entertaining and moving. But its stars are doing good work. Simply their presence in the face of bigotry, defiant and bedecked in rhinestones has the power to change hearts and minds, and its why even with the level of success they have achieved in their career, they are still willing to be out there on the front line.

“It’s so important for us to be a part of the show, and connecting with our drag kids and filing stories. Because it matters,” Shangela tells PRIDE. “We hear this whether it’s in messages, online comments, in conversations with people how We’re Here is helping to connect them to experiences that they’ve had themselves. You don’t have to be from a small town to enjoy this show to get something from the show to let it make you feel something and... it’s creating change and I hope progress for LGBTQ+ people.”

It’s the kind of programming that Eureka would have appreciated growing up in Tennessee and not really ever seeing themselves represented. “I would have loved to have seen more of myself representing my community, not just earlier in life because I think it would have helped me as a bigger person, but also as a queer individual. And someone who was dealing with an environment in East Tennessee, where not only was my peer community very negative and anti who I was presenting, or who I was in general, or trying to tell me who I was,” they tell PRIDE.

Bob agrees that the impact of simply seeing a drag queen can be life-changing. “When I was in college, I went and I saw a drag show, and it changed my life. Even if it wasn’t in my town. I remember being an adult, I was an adult watching it on television and I heard that RuPaul had a TV show. I was like ‘Rupaul is making a TV show, this is remarkable.’ And I watched it in my life was literally changed,” she recalls. “So imagine, if I actually seen them walking down Buena Vista Blvd. in Columbus, Georgia. You can’t even imagine.”

Now in its third season, the show has touched many lives — although a humble Eureka struggles with being credited for doing so — and a lot has changed for the queens and in the world since the show first premiered in 2020. “Season one was we were just walking into the wind with our eyes closed in the thunderstorm,” recalls Bob. “ Season two, we were doing a show in the middle of a pandemic. And in season three, we have been on the tail end of a lot of political shifts, not just because of the election cycle, but also because of the pandemic. But I was still really excited to get back on the ground.”

Shangela agrees that this season felt different because the world is so different than when they started out. “There was a temperature change because our show is a real-life docseries. And so the show reflects what’s happening in our country right now,” he says. “There has been a shift in how people feel really, I think, emboldened, supported in being negative. And having these just really nasty hate speeches and dialogue and rhetoric, and our show felt that.”

While being a successful drag queen means they are a position where they could avoid some of this pain, it was important to Shangela to be there and bare witness. “The important thing is to know that that’s what everyone so many people in the LGBTQ+ community is feeling. So we gave a reflection of that, but also showed how a lot of people are able to push through it, to overcome it and still somehow build a sense of community in some of the most unlikely places.”

As dark as the world may seem at times, the queens have a secret — well not so secret — weapon: Glamour. Never underestimate the power of glam to effect change. “Glamour makes people happy. People get really excited when they see glitz and glamour and sparkle and joy and lashes and heels and sequins and rhinestones. Oh my! It really brings people a lot of joy,” says Bob. “ It makes me happy, that’s why I’m still doing it 14 years later That’s why I’m still torturing my body with corsets and pumps.”

Once you create that crack in people's walls, there is an opportunity for change, and growth Eureka says is what season three of the show is ultimately all about. “Growth is so important for our country, our queer community, also our allies right now more than ever, growth for ally ship more than anything, I think that you know, we highlight our allies a lot and this season, and how they affect our growth politically, how they affect our voices being amplified,” they say.

But of course, the truest message of season three is right there in the title. “No matter where you are in the world, no matter what country, no matter what community. We’re here. No matter where you stay it’s true. We’re here,” says Bob. “Queer people are everywhere. We pop up all over the place. Just know that you’re not here by yourself.”

Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau is set to become first world leader to sashay into the Drag Race werkroom later this month. 

The Liberal Party politician will make the extra special guest appearance, meeting the queens in the upcoming Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs the World season, set to premiere this month.

In the official trailer for the season, which dropped today, Brooke Lynn Hytes introduces Trudeau to the queens in the werkroom, who are all suitably gagged and gooped.

It’s not known whether the Canadian prime minister will be taking a seat as a guest judge on the main stage, but fans have taken to social media and seem happy enough to see him on the show in any capacity.

Others seemed less surprised that out of all the world’s leaders it’s Justin Trudeau hitting up Drag Race first, given his pretty positive stance on LGBTQ+ rights, while others have expressed disbelief that there are still at least some world leaders who seem to care about LGBTQ+ lives and culture.

Earlier this year, the US speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7, opening up doors for some of the world’s biggest political names to potential head onto the main stage.

However, it seems somewhat unlikely that Rishi Sunak will be stomping the runway any time soon.

Canada’s Drag Race hits screens on Friday 18 November and features queens including Canada’s Drag Race season two winner Icesis Couture, Drag Race UK icons Victoria Scone and Vanity Milan, as well as All Stars 6 legends Silky Nutmeg Ganache and Ra’jah O’Hara.

The trailer also promises a wild season, with the queens alluding to a “game within a game”, “sabotage” and, of course, “delusion”.

Other guest stars on the Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs The World will include the franchise’s season one winner Priyanka and All Stars 4 winner Monet X Change, who will both join the judging panel.

Canada’s Drag Race vs the World will premiere on BBC Three in the UK on 19 November.

The show will also be available internationally on streamer of all things drag, WOW Presents Plus.

Bob the Drag Queen, Shangela, and Eureka O’Hara are all coming back for a third season on HBO.

The Emmy award-winning series We’re Here is finally coming back!

For its third season, HBO’s reality drag series We’re Here will take hosts Bob the Drag Queen, Eureka O’Hara, and Shangela to even more small-town cities in the U.S., like Brevard County, Florida; George, Utah; Granbury, Texas; Jackson, Mississippi; and Sussex, New Jersey. During each of those visits, the queens will aim to spread awareness and acceptance of LGBTQ+ individuals.

Just like the first two seasons, the hosts of We’re Here will put on a one-night-only drag show in each of these cities and will give a makeover to their chosen “drag daughters” in the leading up to their performances.

In the trailer, Bob is shown facing a protest against one of the drag shows put on by We’re Here. One of the protestors appears to call Bob an “abomination,” to which she replies, “me!?” In another scene, Shangie comments that “this has been different than any experience that we’ve had in the history of doing this show.”

Despite the pushback that they’re facing in certain cities, Eureka, Shangela, and Bob are set to keep pushing forward to support the LGBTQ+ communities in these conservative spaces.

We can’t wait for what is sure to be an emotional ride on season three of We’re Here.

💅🏽 SHANGELA CHECKS ALFONSO RIBEIRO FOR SAYING HER NAME WRONG ON DANCING WITH THE STARS 📺

The Dancing With the Stars co-host keeps calling her "Angela."

Shangela has been killing it in the ballroom of Dancing With the Stars season 31, but cohost Alfonso Ribeiro happened to call her “Angela” a few times throughout the season. After getting her name wrong about three times in these first four episodes, Shangie finally decided to say something.

As seen in the clip below, Ribeiro asked Shangela a question about her performance during episode four. “But the real question: did you learn my name?” the queen asked in a lighthearted way and proceeded to give him a hug. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum responded:

“Well. Hello! I mean, listen. You got to me before I got to you! Actually, I wanted to say, in the last couple of weeks, I did actually say your name a couple of times wrong. Now, I did say ‘Angela,’ which is my wife’s name. So it was a term of endearment, you know what I’m saying?”

Shangela responded, “You know I love you, baby. I’ve loved you, baby, and you are my Alfondo.” Here, Shangie clearly mispronounced his name – which is Alfonso – as a joke and also as a way of getting back at him. They finished up this interaction laughing.

It’s worth noting that Ribeiro did indeed call Shangela ‘Angela’ a few times on DWTS – something that fans had already been clocking on social media. By week four, she probably felt like something had to be said about it on the air.

This week, Shangie brought out Courtney Act, Priyanka, and Patrick Starrr to be in the audience rooting for her. Act previously competed on the Australian version of Dancing With the Stars and finished as the runner-up, so she clearly has some experience when it comes to the ballroom.

Hopefully, Ribeiro won’t be making this mistake again after getting politely checked by Shangie on TV.

The Drag Race legend made herstory on the DWTS dancefloor with partner Gleb Savchenko!

When I grow up, I wanna be the one and only Shangela Laquifa Wadley! 

Last night, the A Star Is Born actress, We're Here star, and RuPaul's Drag Race legend made her historic debut on the current 31st season of Dancing With the Stars, and as expected, she absolutely slayed it! 

Alongside her dance partner, dreamboat and DWTS veteran Gleb Savchenko, the duo danced the salsa to a rendition of the Pussycat Doll's iconic 2008 bop "When I Grow Up." The two earned an overall score of 28 from the judges, tieing for the third-place spot of the night — not bad considering it's literally only the first night of competition!

To celebrate the momentous occasion, Shangie took to Instagram to post about how she felt following her performance. 

"'Dancing the Salsa, with her partner Gleb Savchenko, it’s SHANGELA...' it was surreal to hear this over the speaker," she wrote. 📺 THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY RENEWED FOR A FOURTH & FINAL SEASON 🌈

"Family meeting, Brellies: We're going on a fourth and final adventure."

Netflix has announced today (25 August) that The Umbrella Academy has been renewed for a fourth season, which will be the show's last. 

The entire superpowered dysfunctional Hargreeves family is set to return for the series farewell, which the showrunner and creator promises to be a "fitting end".

“I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of The Umbrella Academy will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago,” creator and showrunner Steve Blackman said to The Hollywood Reporter.

Blackman added: “But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.”

Season three of Umbrella Academy saw the siblings enter an alternate reality and face off against The Sparrows, a mirrored seven-person team of super-powered individuals. Also in this most recent season was the incorporation of Page's transition for his character, Viktor.

Speaking about rewriting season three to include Viktor's trans identity in June, Blackman told ET that he didn't want to "hang a lantern on it and make it the sob story of the season."

Instead, he recalls: "We all agreed that we want it to be something that just happened and let the family react to it. That was the hard balance to find that."

Blackman credits Page, GLAAD Vice President Nick Adams, and transgender author/journalist Thomas Page McBee for guiding him to explore "what it means to be trans, how it feels, and how to tell a story". 

Speaking to Netflix's TUDUM, Blackman confirmed (spoilers incoming!) that the fact these characters have been left in an alternative timeline without their powers is just one of the twists fans can look forward to.

The show’s season 4 cast set to reprise their roles includes Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore.

In the interview, Blackman also announces the development of two Netflix projects: a cinematic adaption of the hit PlayStation game Horizon Zero Dawn as well as a sci-fi limited series titled Orbital.

Blackman notes that on the surface the two new shows are very different from each other as well as The Umbrella Academy – "one takes place a thousand years in the future, in a world completely remade by massive machines. The other is set near present-day on a space station," – however, as with all of his work, they are linked in an exploration of "outliers who struggle to find their place in a world of conformity and structure."

As Blackman puts it: "All my stories strive to subvert expectation and find a new way of looking into the worlds we think we know."

The Umbrella Academy season 4 does not yet have a release date. Seasons 1-3 are available to stream now.

📺 WHY HULU'S THE IGNORANT ANGELS SHOULD BE YOUR NEXT GAY BINGEWATCH 🌈

The seductive eight-episode series is about loss, chosen family, and the fluidity of sexuality.

With all of the streaming networks creating original content and all of the networks steadily releasing content, it can be extremely difficult to watch everything. Even more than that: it can be extremely hard to even hear about everything. Things often fall through the cracks and then when you find them randomly, you wonder how, in fact, you missed them in the first place. Such was the case with Hulu's The Ignorant Angels.

An Italian series (if you watch it on Hulu under the name Le Fate Ignoranti, you can view it in Italian with English subtitles,) the show is on its face one about loss and grieving. Massimo (Luca Argentero,) a handsome married man of 15 years, dies in a motorcycle accident. He leaves behind his wife Antonia (Cristiana Capotondi), his secret lover and boyfriend Michele (Eduardo Scarpetta), and the chosen family that Michele built and welcomed him into. The resulting series is one of loss and grieving, yes, but it's also about family, sexuality, relationships, and, more importantly, the fluidity of it all. 

Make no mistake: The Ignorant Angels is not necessarily some revelation in screenwriting. I don't necessarily find it disruptive, historic, or even boundary-pushing to be frank — maybe it was when the original movie came out in 2001, but not so much for the series which came out earlier this year. But, then again good television doesn't have to be. I would venture to say that most aren't. The Ignorant Angels provides a cast of imperfect characters living imperfect lives finding their joys where they can. The result is charming, loveable even, and they provide scenes and small comments that you could extrapolate into your own life. 

Through Michele's chosen family, who often find their way through his always-open front door and onto his patio, we encounter storylines that are familiar. There's the friend who is in love with the other friend that, instead of returning their affection, is otherwise busy chasing after someone unattainable — Sandro (Samuel Garofalo) is one of the cutest permutations of this yet. There's also the couple dealing with infidelity and how that changes them, while another wrestles with the next step of their relationship. There's even a presumed sex kitten, here in the case of Luisella (Paola Minaccioni) she doubles as a sort of token ally who is always going after the wrong guy. It's a full house — never without the blunt and often comical commentary of Valter (Edoardo Siravo), a retiree that lives vicariously through his friends while spinning tales of his wilder days — one where true secrets are few and the care is plentiful.

When we find out that Vera (Lilith Primavera) is trans and fled her home, this isn't the first time we've seen this storyline. It's not the first time a mother could not accept their trans child for who they are. But still, watching it play out, to someone we've fallen in love with as she's laughed, consoled, and even physically defended her family of friends, it's moving. And that's what is addictive about it.

Over eight episodes in its first season, we are invited into the home of this family, sometimes through the eyes of Antonia who finds even herself under the house's seductive gravitational pull. While watching you will find yourself laughing, throwing up your hands at the choices being made, and maybe even shedding a tear or two. In the end, there's a chance you may ask if you're an ignorant angel too.

💄 SHEA COULEE′ & ANGELICA ROSS 🏳️‍⚧️ TAKE ON THE SMALL SCREEN 📺 & BROADWAY 🎭

Two of the entertainment world’s freshest and most buzzed about names both announced brand new projects this week. One “Enchantress of Excellence” just finished a run on RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7 (finishing in the Top 4) and released a killer new single “Let Go”. The other dynamic performer capped off a run on American Horror Story: Double Feature with a stunning summer anthem “Only You”. Now, they both are heading towards the conclusion of the summer with two very exciting projects ahead of them. 

As she departed the RuPaul’s Drag Race runway, Shea Couleé revealed to me exclusively that she had some “really cool things down the pipeline” and the project that she was speaking about is truly, “super”. Deadline reported late this week that the Chicago queen is joining the Marvel galaxy. Shea will be appearing in the upcoming Disney + series Ironheart in a yet undisclosed role. The series stars Dominique Thorne as Marvel character Riri Williams, who while also a genius inventor, is also is the creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man himself. Thorne’s character is poised premiere in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as a supporting character, performing spinning off into her own series.

Shea’s obvious exuberance over the new Marvel role was evident, as she said on Instagram “Stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been like stepping into OZ. ‘Ironheart’ is top to bottom going to be an absolutely STUNNING experience for the viewers, and I’m so humbled everyday that I get to work on set with some of the best and most dedicated artists in the industry”.

Whether on-screen as the beloved Candy Ferocity in Pose or behind the scenes as the CEO of TransTech Social Enterprises, everything Angelica Ross seems to do breaks fresh new ground for both her and those that come after her. Now, following in the footsteps of Gwen Verdon, Christie Brinkley, and Pamela Anderson, Ross is about to hit the Great White Way in a legendary role. Playbill announced that Ross is about to step into the role (and the pumps) of Roxie Hart in Chicago, starting September 12th at the Ambassador Theatre (running through November 6th). This announcement makes Ross the first trans performer to headline the legendary Kander & Ebb/Bob Fosse musical production and Ross spoke about her casting on Instagram, saying in part  “Can’t wait to meet the whole cast and create magic with them! See you all on #Broadway soon”!!!

💅🏽 RuPAUL SPEAKS ON ALL STARS 7️⃣ REVEALS THE REAL WINNER OF THE SEASON 👸🏽

The Drag Race host has her final say on the all-winners season.

Mother Ru has spoken.

On Friday, July 29, RuPaul issued a statement following the grand finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 7 where Jinkx Monsoon was crowned the Queen of All Queens. This was very unlike anything Mama Ru has ever written about the ending of a season, so it felt quite surprising for the fans to watch her speaking in this manner.

“After watching this season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars, THE WINNER IS...THE VIEWERS,” the long-standing Drag Race host wrote. “To all of the winning queens that came back to slay, thank you for giving us the best drag show that the world has ever seen. Jaida Essence Hall, Jinkx Monsoon, Monét X Change, Raja, Shea Couleé, The Vivienne, Trinity the Tuck, and Yvie Oddly – your names will be forever synonymous with grace and excellence.”

She continued:

“Your contribution to queer people everywhere can never be fully repaid, but I hope you feel the love that flows from our hearts to yours. I am proud to know each of you, and beyond grateful that the future of drag rests in your capable and fiercely manicured hands.”

It was clear all season long that RuPaul was having more fun and felt more connected to the All Stars 7 cast than any other season in herstory. Perhaps because this was an all-winners edition, Ru seemed to automatically love all eight of the cast members that were competing on the show.

RuPaul got very emotional when speaking with the queens at the finale and even thanked them for serving such excellence on All Stars 7. In turn, the queens also thanked Ru for the “love that radiated” from the host all season long. While there have been complicated relationships between certain queens and RuPaul, it seems like that wasn’t the case at all when it comes to these eight former winners.

The Queen of All Queens and the Queen of She Done Already Done Had Herses have now been crowned, and there’s nothing but love coming from Ru. Fans are already looking forward to a potential second season of all-winners, but it will likely take some time for this format to happen again on Drag Race.
