No one’s more vulnerable than
homosexual when it comes to religion (I might be bias here but hey this blogger
is homosexual), we are unprotected from trauma, fears, and misinformation that religion
provide. In a sense we are being ‘bullied’ from the pulpits EVERY Sunday. The
young male/female is naive, and vulnerable to the positive or negative imprints
that we carry through life. Later we in turn pass on our experience. If that
experience was somewhat negative, through long, hard rehabilitation we may be
able to move beyond the shackles of what left us off the ‘positive road’ of
life.
Many religions know that if they
‘get’ a gay child early enough, the can ‘embed’ them with their ‘doctrine’
forever in the name of ‘saving them’. Leaders of any religion are really ‘holy
book salesmen’ that have spent thousands of hours, usually at an indoctrination
establishment sometimes called a ‘religion college’ learning their ‘craft’. My
experience is that the young who go into this profession, are well intended,
but don’t see or desire the ‘freedoms’ and unquestioning value that other
options allow to assist people. These ‘wannabe’ messengers of god need both be
‘saved from religion’ as well as to consider how they can save gay men and
women from this ‘holy indoctrination’.
Religion salesmen, for all their good
intentions, and compassionate things they do, are hucksters and ‘snake oil
salesmen’ for ancient moral opinions given to people of that time. Humans have
existed for much more than hundreds of thousands of years, and not the last
three to six thousand like these ‘professional spinners of facts’ regurgitate
to humanity, and in particular to the homosexuals within society.
Misleading anyone, especially with
what you purport to be the truth with a God’s sanction is being a ‘devil in
disguise’! It’s abominable to mislead a person with a vulnerable mindset, who
likely fears the unknown, and wants to hear an authority figure assure them of
the ‘only’ safe behavioral route to follow is to be ‘saved’. Holders of the
‘holy word’ of any book, in a sense, are self selected policemen of God and
‘holy rumor spreaders’! The only real policeman is within you that has nothing
to do with any religion. It’s time to kick out the rumors, passed down for
centuries, where the sun don’t shine forever. We homosexuals of the universe
have within us the ability to know and love ourselves. No one knows the answers
to your trip through the ‘journey’.
You hit it right on the nail...very well put

Glad you like it :)
DeleteAs much as i enjoy this blog and its connective offerings, there are way too many inaccuracies in this piece. It does NOT hit the nail on the head, but touches SOME of the realities in religion today. I can't possibly address everything here (and right now the Heat/Pacers game has my attention!! LOL)but let me say from the beginning of your piece, please know that preachers are NOT spending EVERY Sunday preaching about homosexuality...NOT! The greater Christian church (or maybe I should just speak for the "black church')was never really worried about the presence nor participation of homosexuals who were by and large known by their congregations and leadership. Like it or not, their absence would surely have more than a detrimental effect on many areas of the church. What I can speak of negatively about many purveyors of religion, snake-oil salesmen and all the other titles you used,is their recognition that since women dominate most congregations in attendance, they tend to play to their needs: routinely trashing men (especially black men!) to affirm those women who are for whatever reason mad with us,building programming and general church content that speaks to their needs (and therefore exclusionary to men), and of course reaffirming the false and malicious "fact" that there are more black men in jail or gay than there are employed, in school or straight as a means of obtaining their loyalty. Those are the churches EVERYBODY should walk out of ASAP. In fact, those are the abusive religious practices that I would have to say your observations can be clearly tied to. So much more could be said, but I'm starting to bore myself! LOL Let it be said, Gay folk are in the church, in the world and are here to stay, opposition notwithstanding! And I know from whence I speak!!! LOVe you iama[GAY]keeper..oh and the DAHL HOUSE ends April 2013? Dammmnnnn lol AND THE HEAT WINS!!!!
DeleteLOVE you too the general and thanks for your comments :)
DeleteThere are gay priests who do everything in their power to love and help gay and lesbian people. Paul on his blog, ENHANCED MASCULINITY, is one who is actively doing this. I have worked with the Catholic Gay Group, ACCEPTANCE, here in Australia for over 40 years, as a gay priest. There are others, both gay and straight ministers of religion, who are doing similar work. We are a minority but we are there doing our bit.
ReplyDeleteI just started reading Paul's blog, is he a priest?
DeleteNot only do we (all humankind) have the ability to know and love ourselves, we have the ability to create a very personal and satisfying relationship with the Almighty.
ReplyDeletemy sentiment exactly, I tell folks I bypass church and work on my spirituality without that element
DeleteBeing an atheist , raised by atheist I am glad this is an internal struggle I never had to deal with. I've seen it in my partner, and the abuse of religion on his self esteem is not pretty when it rears it's ugly head.
ReplyDeleteyeah the demon is one stubborn bitch
