"Before You Walk out of My Life" is a song by American R&B
singer Monica. It was written by Andrea Martin and Soulshock & Karlin, and it was produced
by Soulshock & Karlin for Toni
Braxton's album Secrets[1] but
ended up on Monica's debut studio album, Miss Thang (1995).
The song was released as the album's second single on August 3, 1995, with
"Like This and Like That" serving as
its double
A-side side stateside.
The single became Monica's second
number-one hit on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart,
spending two weeks at number-one on the chart, and reached number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 and
number eight on the New Zealand Singles Chart. Additionally,
the song was ranked number thirty-eight on the 1996 Billboard year-end
chart and certified platinum by theRIAA.[2][3] "Before
You Walk Out of My Life," alongside previous single "Don't Take It Personal
(Just One of Dem Days)," made the singer the youngest recording artist
to have two consecutive number-one hits on Billboard's R&B chart at the age
of fourteen.[3]
An accompanying music video for
the single was directed by Kevin Bray and released in August 1995.
First off, thanks for sharing this. I love these kind of posts, as I am a huge Billboard Charts junkie and music trivia nut. LOVE R&B. Makes for the best sex soundtrack. So - this shockwave thing is not working for me. I will go problem shoot that. Can't wait to hear this again. Also... did Toni Braxton (one of my all-time faves) actually record the song? And if so, has it available anywhere to listen to? I love rarities and almost releases. Have a great weekend - Uptonking from Wonderland Burlesque
