BI-SEXUALITY...LET'S TALK

It is incredible to me how OUR culture still ignores the full spectrum of SEXUAL
ORIENTATION and lost in all of this confusion
are the BI-SEXUALS. Bi-sexuality
is an enigma unto itself and those of us that are not on both sides of the
sexual divide tend to form an opinion that causes more harm than good. 

WE are a culture
that is consumed by the notion of HETEROSEXUALITY. It is rather sad that WE are still asking ourselves if someone is GAY or STRAIGHT. How do we see a woman dating a man and
automatically assume that she is straight if we later see her on a date with a
woman? How
do we continue to ignore the spectrum of sexual orientation and the shifts that
it takes in the lives of others?

The crazy thing is that I can see why WE tend to overlook bisexuals; their existence jab holes in a lot
of conventional wisdoms when it comes to sorting society by gender AND sexual orientation. One would THINK that this would be enough to stop us from sorting OUR society by gender AND sexual orientation, but it is NOT! Many MEN and
WOMEN have fantasies about, and
sexual contact with members of both sex, yet WE cannot seem to find some way of ACCEPTING that this takes place.

The need for an individual to
establish sexual OR emotional relationships with persons of both sexes is
something that is REAL and LOGICAL. Many bisexual persons would say that they are into the
person and NOT the gender.
Yet WE try so HARD to make it seem as if it is the TOTAL opposite when it is NOT! IT IS SO OBVIOUS
THAT OUR BIGGEST PROBLEM IS LABELS! In the
search to identify OUR sexual
preference, WE too often categorize ourselves into certain boxes with labels of GAY,
STRAIGHT & BISEXUAL. From where I am
sitting to do something like that is foolish AND it shows that WE are trying to simplify something that is not
straightforward. 

SEXUALITY & SEXUAL DESIRE ARE FLUID! BEING
GAY, FOR INSTANCE DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU CANNOT BE SEXUALLY ATTRACTED TOWARDS A
WOMAN. IN THE END, CAN ONE SAY WHAT PROVES A MAN IS GAY? WHAT MAKES A WOMAN
BISEXUAL? ALL THIS BRINGS US TO ONE FUNDAMENTAL QUESTION…IS SEXUAL ORIENTATION
A CHOICE? IF ONE THINKS ABOUT IT, THE ANSWER WOULD HAVE TO BE NO!!! THERE ISN’T
A CLEAR DIVISION BETWEEN GAY, STRAIGHT OR BISEXUALITY. IN TRUTH, THE SPECTRUM
OF SEXUALITY EXTENDS FROM COMPLETE HOMOSEXUALITY TO COMPLETE HETEROSEXUALITY.
WHERE & WHY ANYONE END UP ON THE SCALE IS ANYONE’S GUESS, BUT IT SHOULD BE
EXAMINED BEFORE LABELS & JUDGEMENT COMES INTO PLAY. HOW CAN WE FORGET WHEN
WE CAME TO THE REALIZATION OF OUR SEXUALITY? HOW CAN WE NOT REMEMBER WHEN WE
BECAME AWARE OF THE SEXUAL CHANGES IN OUR BODIES THAT FEED THE ATTRACTION BOTH
SEXUAL & EMOTIONAL TOWARDS EITHER PERSONS OF THE OPPOSITE OR SAME SEX?
SEXUALITY IS COMPLEX & FASCINATING, IT ENCOMPASSES SO MUCH MORE THAN WE
KNOW OR ACCEPT. BI-SEXUALITY PER SE DOES NOT BELONG TO ANY CATEGORIES GIVEN
THAT THEY ARE ALL OF SEXUALITY. LIKE HOMSEXUALITY SEX IN THIS SOCIETY, HAS A
LOT OF ROTTEN THINGS THAT ARE REFLECTED IN IT’S CORE. HENCE, BISEXUALITY THOUGH
VARIED & COMPLEX SHOULD NOT BE SEEN AS SOMETHING NEGATIVE, ESPECIALL BY
THOSE OF US THAT ARE HOMOSEXUAL.
