Coachella is
for the gays this year.
Frank Ocean is
making his much-anticipated return this spring, headlining the famed Coachella
Valley Music and Arts Festival along with Bad Bunny and BLACKPINK. Ocean is
making history as an out, queer artist headlining the iconic festival.
The complete
Coachella 2023 lineup was announced today, showing the three headliners, as
well as other big acts like Björk, Charli XCX, Flo Milli, Latto, ROSALÍA, Pusha
T, The Kid LAROI, and Gorillas.
Ocean is
headlining the third day of the festival, which will be on April 16 and again
on April 23.
Other queer
artists performing this year include Ashnikko, Doechii, Ethel Cain, Kali Uchis,
MUNA, YUNGBLUD, and Kaytranada.
Ocean
was originally slated to headline the festival way back in 2020.
Other headliners were supposed to be Rage Against the Machine and Travis Scott.
The festival was postponed due to the pandemic, and this year is the first year
Ocean has been available since then.
Because of
these rare circumstances, Ocean was announced as a headliner for the 2023
festival all the way back in the summer of 2021. He will be the first out queer
man to headline the festival.
Last year saw plenty of queer artists take the Coachella stage,
including Phoebe Bridgers, Rina Sawayama, Arlo Parks, Orville Peck, Kim Petras,
Pabllo Vittar, Brockhampton, girl in red, 100 gecs, and MIKA.
Coachella 2023 will
take place over two weekends. The first is April 14-16, and the second is April
21-23. You can buy passes beginning this Friday, January 13.
