I AM...

I am whatever YOU think I am until YOU get to KNOW me. This is true for everyone else too, of course.. so don't make assumptions about anyone or pass judgment; ask questions. You might just make a new friend.

THE EDGE OF HISTORY...

For a while, I’ve been BITTER, UNINTERESTED & CLOSED to the notion AND thought of Barack Obama becoming the FIRST BLACK PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. My reasons were many and I am sure that there are MANY of you out that would agree with them on some level, but those don’t matter right about now. The ONLY thing that had me SO unmovable was the fact that the candidate that I was supporting (HILLARY CLINTON) had to be demonized AND vilified to justify why Barack should be the nominee. It hurt me SO much to see that things happened the way they did, but now I can say that it was for the best. I know that many may say NO, but it is MY opinion that Barack Obama wouldn’t have become the nominee if Hillary wasn’t who she is. I came to see her place in the whole scheme of things and I couldn’t agree with her anymore when she said that YOU HAVE TO BLOOM WHERE YOU ARE PLANTED. That statement made sense to me AND it put things in perspective…CHANGE HAS COME TO AMERICA and I was foolish for wishing AND thinking that the OTHER party should win. Colin Powell said it best when he said, “I truly believe that at this point in America’s history we need a president who will not just continue...basically the policies we have followed in recent years,” “We need a president with transformational qualities.” For that reason, he said, “I will be voting for Barack Obama.” That statement along with Hillary’s showed me that I had it all wrong. I mean how could I NOT see the journey of this man that WILL takes us down a winding road of constant evolution? With him, we will be provided with a MULTITUDE of opportunities that can allow us to transform into our next best selves. And during these moments of awareness, WE can take that step to change. I am NO longer asleep to the truth behind the glass and NO matter what happens, I say that I BELIEVE…I BELIEVE

  1. WOW Mr Gayte-keeper. I'm really suprised and disappointed at your initial thinking about Barack Obama. Never in a million years would I guess that you would think in that way, even though you saw things differently in the end.

  2. Thank you for coming around. I too beleive that Hillary Clinton will make a truly fine president. But to break the hold that the far-right, intolerant, hate-filled Republican conservatives have had on this country since 1980, I beleive that only Barack can succeed. Now go vote. And be happy!

  3. Yeah I have to agree, I would have loves Hillary as president. However after being a bit more open to Obama I think he might be just as good, if not better. And he's definitely a hell of a lot better than the mess we have now.ps. Love this picture.

  4. I love how you actually sat and thought long and hard about your decisions when it comes down to politics. A lot of African Americans believe that just because you are black that you are respectable enough to lead the nation and represent those who are not adequately represented. This is a nation in whose leaders were all from the racial and ethnic MAJORITY, but now we are in the midst of a change that will be to the BENEFIT of our nation. I love everything that is happening right now for us (except the economic and energy crises), but I have so much faith in Obama. He is a man that really and truly deserves the opportunity to make a beneficial difference in all of our lives. And I love the picture too! It makes him look very human.

  5. I was also a supporter of Hillary Clinton and I share your sentiments. I am insulted to think that because i am black that i am suppose to support the Black Candidate. This suggests that somehow Black people are void of independent thinking and nothing could be further from the truth. The media's love affair with Obama resulted in Hillary being vilified by the media and was even accused of injecting racism into the campaign. Having said all that,Obama became the nominee and had my full support despite not being my first choice.America is at a crossroad and needs a leader who will transcend partisan boundaries and who will inspire the nation.I have come to realise that Obama is indeed that leader. It is my hope and pray that AMERICA will do the right thing and elect OBAMA as the next President of the US.

  7. Ok so I haven't really been following all the political hoopla over the past year but i've always did my part and went out and voted. I've caught tid bits of information here and there and i knew Obama was gonna be the person i voted for but honestly politics was never my thing and i'm not gonna pretend they are. With that said today has been an interesting day for me because as i was sitting at work a feeling of excitement came over me. All of a sudden it hit me that when i go to bed later tonight we might actually have an african american president. Can you freakin believe it? That feelin turned my mundane day at work into an beautifuly night at work. The thought that for once in my life time I might get the chance to see somebody that looks like me in the history books as the president of the united states of america. Get excited people!!! Get really excited!!!

  8. Once again just with the way you articulate urself i am amazed. The way that you think of things in such a deep manner is something that i have truly come to admire about u. I felt just as you did in the beginning. I wasnt exactly following all the political mess. I figured that either Clinton or Obama were going to make history. Hillary would have been the first woman to be president. Obama being the first african-american. I feel that things have working out in the way that they should have. I just hope that our new president exceeds our expectations and hopes and does his best to make this Country Greater than it ever has been. FOR EVERYONE.
