Human societies have created a variety of different solutions to this basic part of the mating game and almost all of civilizations have established social controls that stigmatize the man who “covets” another man. It’s an irrational solution, after all aren’t we coveters just here to destroy man-kind? Nonetheless, in civilized society, we gay men had to establish a way of getting each other’s attention. As it is TOO risky to publicly ask another unknown man that you pass on the street if he would like to have dinner with you sometimes whether the man in question is willing or not, you just couldn’t take that risk!
As studies have shown, ‘Gaydar’ may actually exist and I along with MANY other gay men can attest to that fact that we can seek each other out NO matter where we might be. Isn’t it exciting to know that when you stare @ a complete stranger and he stares, you know that is THE LOOK OF RECOGNITION? We have been beating society @ its own game with our innate ability to zero in on other men and I think that over time we’ve become MORE perceptive and detail-oriented (hiding in plain sight), thus giving us an even GREATER chance of picking up on subtle clues in other men that they may be homosexual.
I MET MY FIRST BOYFRIEND WITH THE LOOK OF RECOGNITION & I CAN SAY THAT IT DOES HAVE ITS DRAW BACKS…BUT I DIGRESS, SO DO YOU HAVE ANY INTERESTING STORIES TO SHARE ABOUT OUR UNCANNY ABILITY TO FIND EACH OTHER?
