I AM...

I am whatever YOU think I am until YOU get to KNOW me. This is true for everyone else too, of course.. so don't make assumptions about anyone or pass judgment; ask questions. You might just make a new friend.

GAY MEN & HAPPINESS...

You spend long nights wide awake, wandering around your home, wondering what you are missing in my life. But can you blame yourself for feeling this way? How could you be ungrateful when, an amazing career or a successful business, and even the perfect house?

Many of us grew up with the conviction that college, a job, and creating the perfect future family would make you happy. Many of us gay men in turn gave our all to be happy and successful, making sure to be the bestest best friend, the awesome husband, and the perfect sons we could be. We live like robots, trying hard to live up to our own and others’ expectations.

We live in a world filled with demands and expectations what’s right and wrong, good and bad, what will show success and not failure. There are many voices telling us what to wear, what to eat, how to exercise, whom to marry, and what we should achieve. Even our bodies are great targets for judgment. In our quest to fit in and do the right thing, we create stress, anxiety, exhaustion, and depression. Not feeling great, or even well, has become the norm for many.

Aren’t you tired of living someone else’s life? What fun is it to live other people, societies, your family’s life but your own? What missing in our lives isn’t another promotion, a higher salary, a better body or a more perfect man, what was missing is you!
When will we no longer try to fit in or be perfect? We as gay men lived so much life based on what other people expected that we don’t even know what was true for us anymore.

Sounds familiar?

¿WHY DO WE GET INTO SO MUCH TROUBLE WHEN IT CUMS TO SEX?

Gay men do have a reputation for sometimes being “douchey” when seeking sex. Sometimes, in the hunt for sex, testosterone takes over and the other part of being male, the more tender part gets submerged for a while. This sometimes creates a gay/bi male subculture where we forget that even with a hookup, tender feelings are involved.

While men may have hefty doses of the aggressive testosterone hormone in their blood, we also need to attach to others just like everyone else. So how do we find common ground?

And, most importantly, we can learn that there is a way to talk about anything with other, even the need for sex that feels connecting and intimate?

How do we remove the illusion that "it's just sex" & "what possible difference does it make where I put my penis?"

¿WHY DO OPEN RELATIONSHIPS LEAVE SUCH A BAD TASTE IN MOUTHS OF GAY MEN?

Can you love someone but fuck another guy?
The answers to  such a question would be mixed, with some calling gay men in open relationships greedy and selfish while others will say it’s up to people in relationships to define what their relationships are. Whether you think being in open to open relationships comes with age and experience this subject isn't so black and white.
Why does someone else’s personal relationship get you so angry? Why does the idea of two grown men developing a relationship that suits their needs make you feel the need to tell them their relationship is not ‘a real relationship’?
Now many would argue that someone’s anger towards gay men in open relationships is probably a reflection on themselves, their insecurities, age or experience. That’s not for me to state. However I feel the time is right for us, as a community, to have an (excuse the pun) open and honest conversation about open relationships. To break down the stigma attached to them we need to explore and educate.
And why do we need to educate? We have heard from so many gay men, over and over again, that they thought they were in an monogamous relationship only to find that their partner has passed on an STI or HIV to them.
If we can break down the stigma and stereotyping of open relationships, then gay men who are in monogamous relationships and may be thinking about having sex with someone who is not their partner, might be more open to having an honest talk with their partner about their needs and desires. If you are so anti-open relationships but your partner is not feeling the same way, do you think he’s going to discuss something like this with you?
Think about it.

LIL NAS X LEADS QUEER ARTISTS @ GRAMMYS

He came with pink leather and left with gold hardware!
Out gay rapper Lil Nas X, sporting a pink western-inspired Versace outfit complete with a harness, snagged two Grammy awards on January 26 as he continued to ride the wave of his hit debut song “Old Town Road.”

The 20-year-old artist and his sidekick Billy Ray Cyrus, who collaborated with him on the famous “Old Town Road” remix, won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video for their work on the song that shattered records when it sat atop Billboard’s Hot 100 chart for a whopping 19 consecutive weeks.

Lil Nas X, who came out at the end of June last year, went on to delight the crowd at the Staples Center with performances “Old Town Road” and another one of his songs, “Rodeo.”

While the spotlight was on Lil Nas X, other queer artists quietly made important history. Out lesbian DJ Tracy Young won Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for her remix of Madonna’s song “I Rise,” making Young the first woman to win in that category. Young turned to Instagram after she received her award to “thank my LGBTQ family, friends, club-goers, [and] music lovers who have supported my career from the start.”

She added, “We have shattered the glass ceiling together, in a male-dominated industry.”

Plus, although out bisexual music star Lady Gaga did not attend the Grammys, she still made an impact — and it wasn’t for singing. She was among four songwriters, along with Natalie Hemby, Hillary Lindsey and Aaron Raitiere, to receive Best Song Written for Visual Media for the song “I’ll Never Love Again” from the film “A Star Is Born.” For that same film, Gaga also landed a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, giving her a total of 11 Grammy awards for her career.

But that wasn’t all: Out gay “Pose” star Billy Porter managed to make a splash without even winning any awards. He turned heads with his sparkly blue hat featuring motor-powered crystal curtains that opened and closed.
