The clip from
YouTube star DaveyWavey features the real, anonymized app profiles of men
on Grindr.
It exposes some
of the shocking racism present on the app – with one user calling for a “block
all blacks” button.
Another profile
asks Asian people to “prease reave me arone” – while another guy says he
refuses to settle for “anything less” than a white person.
Though some try
to justify their comments by insisting it’s “just a preference”, the YouTubers
were less than impressed.
YouTuber
Kingsley explained: “As a minority, if you see things like that all the time it
can kind of be taxing and affect your self esteem and how you see yourself.
“I do think it
would be better if people wouldn’t write things like that – but I also wish
people cared about themselves enough to know that anybody who writes something
like that isn’t worth your time.”
Guy Anthony
asked: “You can have a preference, you can have a small dick preference, I have
a big dick preference! I only like big dicks, so I get that.
“But how do we sort of
infiltrate people’s minds and say like ‘black is okay, Asian is okay, white is
okay’?
All people will do "stupid" many times throughout their lives. My thought is that if people are indeed so restricted as to their interests, then they should not post an advert on public social media. As a Deaf man, I learned this lesson years ago and have since refused to use the source. Love and naked hugs!
