Today marked an incredible day in history. Barack Obama made a declaration for equal
rights in his second Inaugural Address, on the most important civil rights
holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
This was the first time a President of the United States has ever
mentioned LGBT rights in an Inaugural Address.
He stated,
“Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law – for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well.”
Everyone deserves a chance. The President made it crystal clear today.
That whether you are poor, sick, or disabled. Whether you are a woman, an immigrant or a
member of the LGBT community. You
deserve a chance.
Whoever you are, you deserve a chance to fulfill your ambitions and
pursue your dreams. I think what we are
going to find is that many of us have similar ambitions and dreams, whoever we
are and wherever we came from.
God bless and protect our President and his family.
