Helstrom, a television adaption of the Marvel comics of the same name, is Hulu's
latest supernatural (and LGBTQ+ inclusive) series.
Released just
in time for Halloween, the show follows Daimon (Tom Austen) and
Ana Helstrom (Sydney Lemmon), the son and daughter of a mysterious
serial killer, as they "track down the worst of humanity — each with their
own attitude and skills."
PRIDE had
a quick chat with Alain Uy, who plays Chris Yun on the series, Ana's
business partner and surrogate brother. In our exclusive interview, Uy opened
up about his character's sexuality, supernatural romances, and how Helstrom is
different from other series from the Marvel universe.
Off the bat,
it's clear that Helstrom isn't your average Marvel series.
With all of the "gore and fear" Uy describes, the show fits right in
with the horror genre.
"It's
part of the universe that hasn't been touched," says Uy. For "fans
that are looking for something a little bit more mature, that's a lot more
grounded, that are looking for themes that wouldn't necessarily be in Iron Man
or any those types of movies," Helstrom is the show for
you.
Uy also talks
about Chris's complicated relationship with his boyfriend, Derrick Jackson
(Hamza Fouad). Ana and Chris "use his profession to boost their side
projects," which we're sure is perfectly fine by him and won't blow up in
their faces at all. Look forward to some messy gay drama this season!
Helstrom is available to stream on Hulu now. Watch the trailer below:
