Michael Sam, the first openly gay player to be drafted by the NFL,
toldGood Morning America's Robin Roberts that he second guessed himself
about coming out gay.
“I'm doing my job, don't you worry,” Sam responded to Roberts'
question about how he's prepared for training camp, which opens Monday.
When asked, “What was going through your mind?” on draft day, Sam
answered: “I was kind of second guessing myself whether maybe football turned
its back on me. And I was like, 'Maybe I shouldn't have done what I did,' you
know?”
“You mean coming out publicly like that?”
“Exactly. I had so many emotions going through my head and then I
felt a touch over my shoulder and it was [boyfriend] Vito [Cammisano] and I was
like, 'I don't care what happens.' I know I did the right thing in my heart and
whatever happens happens.”
It was a very honest and candid interview. Thanks for sharing this.
