MAKING FRIENDS AS GAY ADULTS
One thing no
one tells you about being an adult is how lonely you will be. People tell you
about the responsibilities, the hard work in front of you, hell, they even tell
you all the possible STDs you can get from unprotected sex. But for some
reason, people seem to gloss over the fact that it’s really, really hard to
make friends as an adult. And, as a result, a lot of gay men I know are lonely.
Romantic
relationships are arguably easier to find because there’s a physical attraction
or at least the promise of one. Gay men are motivated to find romantic
relationships, so they’re more open to talking to strangers in restaurants or
at a function with who they find intriguing. But if I’m in a dimly lit bar one
Saturday night, and I see a man my age across the way, and I want to get to
know him (strictly on a platonic basis), what do I do? Buy him a drink?
Compliment his outfit? Try to get his number?
In a world full
of #squadgoals and selfies, it can be hard to admit that it is difficult to
maintain or begin a friendship with other gay men. Do you find it hard to make
friends as adult gay men?

¿HOW LONG SHOULD SEX LAST?
Due to the private nature of sex, it’s a hard question to answer and I am not
saying you should peek through the blinds to see your friends doing the deed,
but chances are you've wondered how your stamina stacks up against everyone
else.
So yes, I am basically asking: Are you the tortoise or the hare?
PULSE ANNIVERSARY TO BE DEDICATED IN ORLANDO AS "'DAY OF LOVE & KINDNESS"
City and county
officials in Orlando, Fla., want the one-year anniversary next June of the
Pulse nightclub massacre to be marked with acts of love and kindness.
Elected
officials on Monday said that June 12 officially would be dedicated as “Orlando
United Day — A Day of Love and Kindness.”
Officials also
announced a series of events planned throughout the day on June 12.
An exhibit of artwork
collected from memorial sites set up around Orlando after the massacre will be
shown at the Orange County History Center, followed by a memorial service at
the site of the former gay nightclub.
Another
memorial ceremony will be held in the evening around downtown Orlando’s Lake
Eola.
Forty-nine
people died in the worst mass shooting in recent U.S. history; dozens more were
injured.
In other news
related to the massacre on Monday, a lawsuit brought by victims against the
gunman’s employer and wife is being withdrawn from federal court and filed in
state court in South Florida.
Attorneys for
61 Pulse victims and family members of those killed filed the lawsuit in state
court in Palm Beach County, Fla., on Monday.
The change in
venues was made just days after a federal judge said in an order that he
doubted federal court was the proper jurisdiction for the case.
The lawsuit
claims Omar Mateen’s employer, security firm G4S, and Noor Salman, Mateen’s
widow, could have stopped the gunman before the attack last June but didn’t.

JUS' E-MAIL ME: ¿SHOULD HE TELL HER THAT HER HUSBAND IS CLOSETED CHEATER?
I’m a gay man
in my mid-thirties and, for a few months, I was sleeping with a "straight" married guy, who’s a few years older and has a child with his wife. I really
fancied him and it was exciting at first, but then it became stressful having
to sneak around and I actually started to feel very bad for his wife.
I ended it
after going to his place one night after a drinking session when his wife and
child were out of town. I saw all these happy family photos and felt so bad
that I was sleeping with her husband in her bed and she knew nothing about it.
I had to ask myself what kind of guy I was involved with.
I used to hear him on the phone lying to her about where he was when he’d just been having sex with me. I’m not the first guy he’s cheated on his wife with and I’m sure I won’t be the last. I keep getting the urge to tell her what he’s really like so she can get out of this sham of a marriage and find happiness with someone else. What would you do? I’m torn between wanting to see him get his comeuppance or just walking away and leaving them to it.

RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE: SEASON 9, EPISODE 1 - "OH. MY. GAGA!"
Do you feel
that tingle in your tuck? It’s that magical time of year where 13, no, FOURTEEN
drag queens are carted off to Los Angeles to sling lashes and insults at each
other in hopes of being crowned America’s Next Top Host of Logo’s Gay Aspen Ski
Weekend.
Like most
reality TV competitions, the prize truly doesn’t matter. RuPaul’s Drag
Race is a bonafide phenomenon, and it’s easy to see why: It’s a
treasure trove of pop culture knowledge, excavating retro gems and fueling
the catchphrases of our future; Ru and the writers craft some of the most
wickedly naughty and gleefully cheesy turns of phrase you’ll hear anywhere
on basic cable; and the contestants showcase a level of talent that spans
so many skill sets, it’s hard to watch and not be dumbfounded why these people
aren’t huge stars already.
And that’s what brings us to the
show’s most important element: It tells stories about queer people from the most
marginalized segments of our society. RuPaul’s Drag Race engages
gender head-on (sometimes with mixed results), but it also boasts one
of television’s most diverse contestant pools, highlights the queer
experience in small-town USA and celebrates the ingenuity of creative artists
struggling to work on a budget.
This season
marks a big step for the scrappy show that was once considered a cult favorite.
It’s leaving its home at the LGBT channel Logo for its much more mainstream
fellow Viacom property, VH1. Little seems to have been lost in translation, so
hopefully the only result is a wider audience for this excellent series.
But enough
throat clearing. Gentlemen, start your engines, and let’s get this recap going.
We kick things
off with our traditional arrivals into the workroom, starting with Peppermint.
Some notable entrances include Brooklyn’s Sasha Velour stepping into the
workroom and letting out a guttural scream, Nina Bo’nina’s cartoon mouse and a
nearly naked Farrah Moan. We also got a hint at Eureka and Trinity’s pageant
rivalry (and Trinity’s concern about the, ahem, “astigmatism” against pageant
girls). Is it possible for a tuck to cut off circulation to your brain?
Of course, the
real star of the workroom is Lady Gaga herself. She initially tries to pass
herself off as a Gaga impersonator (Gaga’s most meta ARTPOP project
yet?), but before it really gets to be any fun, she reveals herself to the
momentarily befuddled queens. That sure was a lot of buildup about going
stealth for what amounted to maybe 40 seconds of suspense.
