All communities offers a roadmap to guide us on our individual journeys to self-
discovery. These roadmaps are made up of moral codes, parables, and, in some
cases, detailed descriptions of how we should be as humans. In many ways the
community plan a road trip giving us the maps and guidebooks in an effort to
understand where we are going.
Though many of us are well-suited
to following their maps, the community is always giving new ways for us to get
where we need to go. There are many maps and travelogues left behind by others,
full of useful information and inspiration. If you find the road traveled by
our predecessors is closed or inaccessible, change direction and chart your own
route. These are the moments when we learn to attune ourselves to our inner
compass of the community, as we make our way into the unknown territory of our
own enlightenment.
