THE DRAG RACE EMPIRE HAS SET ITS SIGHTS ON THESE COUNTRIES NEXT

New spinoffs incoming!

Hold on to your wigs, RuPaul is working on expanding his beloved drag competition series to Asia!

According to a press release, World of Wonder, the production company behind the RuPaul's Drag Race empire, has partnered with third-party agent O4 Media to work on expanding through Asian markets, specifically India, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea, as well as revamping the Thailand spinoff which already has two seasons but stalled out.

"O4 Media [has] a strong reputation and great contacts across Asia. It is really important to us that Drag Race is supported by a passionate team as we identify the right broadcast and production partners across Asia," said World of Wonder co-founder Fenton Bailey in a statement. "We know we are in great hands, and we are excited to be bringing Drag Race to audiences across Asia and sharing in the joy of all things drag!"

RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race is also in the mix for Asian adaptions.

Drag Race Thailand was actually the first international spinoff and premiered in 2018, but after season 2 wrapped in 2019, another season never came to fruition. The host of DR Thailand, Pangina Heals, did rise from the ashes to compete on RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs The World earlier this year, where a shocking elimination landed the frontrunner in sixth place.

These new locations would join Drag Race Chile, UK, Holland, Canada, Australia & New Zealand, Italy, Spain, France, the Philippines, Sweden, and Belgium, taking the grand total of spinoffs from 13 to 17.

How many RuPaul's Drag Race spinoffs are there?

Currently, 13. These new potential Asian additions would push the total to 17.

What is the best Drag Race franchise?

Every series has its own identity. You'll just have to watch all of them and find out.

Does RuPaul own World of Wonder?

RuPaul does not own World of Wonder. The company was founded by Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey and manages RuPaul's career as well as produces the franchise.
