I AM...

I am whatever YOU think I am until YOU get to KNOW me. This is true for everyone else too, of course.. so don't make assumptions about anyone or pass judgment; ask questions. You might just make a new friend.

¿CAN MY ONE ON ONE TIME HELP OR HURT MY RELATIONSHIP?

Let me just put this out there I really enjoy a good jack-off.  It’s not compulsive in any way, I just enjoy a bit of ‘me-time’.  I jack off about once a day and I pretty much always use porn to help me get off. I have sex too in a monogamous relationship of six years. The sex we have is good, REALLY good, but it’s nothing like the porn I watch.

In my jack-off sessions I tend to get off watching myvidster videos of ‘rugged, masculine men, having rough and ready encounters’. Within my relationship the sex is intimate and I get that physical and emotional connection. The other day I was talking to a friend about the sex that I have and during the conversation, my friend told me, ‘it’s a bit weird that you’re still jacking-off so much even though you have a healthy relationship’. It’s almost like there’s something missing from your sex-life.

I beg to differ because from the time I knew myself, I was the only one giving me pleasure until I got curious about involving another person. So I put my ‘porn versus real-life’ situation to you, do you think masturbating even though you have a partner is unnecessary?

FIRST ACTIVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYER COMES OUT

College football kicker Conner Mertens came out as bisexual to his teammates at Willamette University in Oregon last night, Cyd Zeigler reports at Outsports, becoming the first active college football player in the U.S. to come out publicly.

He did it for personal reasons, writes Zeigler, but also in the hope of inspiring fellow LGBT athletes to follow in his footsteps:

"For me growing up, I always felt the biggest thing that caused my depression was the feeling of being alone," Mertens said. "I hate the stereotypes that go along with liking the same sex. You don't have to follow the stereotype to be this way. I made the decision that if I could help anyone else avoid feeling the way I felt, I would."

The people he most wanted to reach are the residents of his hometown of Kennewick, Wash. The Tri-Cities is a conservative area in Southeast Washington that Mertens said isn't the most LGBT-friendly place in the world... Despite being a successful football player, he feared losing his friends and teammates if he talked about his homosexual tendencies.

"I had a smile on my face all the time as a kid, but I was dying on the inside. In my hometown, you have to fit in or you'll be exiled. If somebody had come out that I looked up to in the town, I would have been a lot happier.
Mertens doesn't want any other youth in his hometown to ever feel the way he did, so he took matters into his own hands."

Conner came out to the coaching staff and leaders on the team, then to the rest of the team at a meeting last night. He says the response from his teammates has been overwhelmingly positive. "It's been incredible," he said. "I'm speechless."

Congratulations on taking this important step, Conner, and welcome to the out and proud LGBT family!

THE 6 STRAIGHT WOMEN GAY MEN SHOULD AVOID

In the homo history books, straight women have always held a cherished role in the road to acceptance for gays around the globe. They were holding our hand on our first trip to the gay bars, they went to the prom with us even though they knew they weren’t going to get lucky, and they are still our dinner dates when our boyfriends are nowhere to be found. Yes, it is no secret that gay men and straight women can often be a match made in platonic heaven.

Unfortunately, some of these precious ladies take on a more insidious tone when they inappropriately co-opt the experience of being a gay man, or treat us like objects instead of friends. A few might have started off as allies, but somewhere along the way, they evolved into these six types of broads who are a nuisance, a bother, and an altogether bitch for gay men to put up with.

These are the six straight women that gay men should avoid — at all costs.

TODAY IS FREETHINKER'S DAY!
