CHANTE'S GOT A MAN

"Chanté's Got a Man" is the first single from Chanté Moore's third album, This Moment Is Mine. It became Moore's first top-ten single on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching number ten. Featuring an interpolation of the number-one 1971 Osmonds single "One Bad Apple", the song earned a Soul Train Music Awardnomination for "Single of the Year, Female". It peaked at #10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

TWO SPIRITS

Why are people harassed, attacked, and killed simply for being who they are? How do these crimes affect society as a whole? And what do we do to end these tragedies? This powerful documentary—together with the project’s interconnected outreach components—place what occurred in Colorado in a universal context, illuminating one of the most complex issues of our day through the story of Fred Martinez.

The number of anti-LGBT incidents reported to the National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs has risen in the past two years, which signals a retrograde environment where violent incidents that range from threats, harassment, and vandalism, to physical assault with weapons and vehicles, and escalate even to torture and murder are on the increase.

Fatal assaults against gender non-conforming people continue to rise, and many teens have been murdered in attacks motivated by their gender identity or gender expression--most of color, disadvantaged, and gay, lesbian, or transgender. Chillingly, offenders who were 18 years of age or under represent fully twenty percent of all offenders. There has also been a disturbing increase in gang-style violence, in which a group of perpetrators "hunt" someone they identify as LGBT, targeting them for harassment or violence.

One of the most important ways to change this dynamic within the culture is by telling the stories that humanize the issues and transform fear and bigotry into insight and compassion.

RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE: SEASON 2, EPISODE 5 – HERE COMES THE BRIDE

Tyra Sanchez, wielding her hateful attitude, has incited drama several times already on this season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, notably in episode 2 when she whined her way through the first group challenge where the queens did burlesque. And “the other Tyra”—as Ru has taken to calling her—certainly delivered on the drama front again last night. She ruffled the other contestants’ feathers—well, mostly just Tatianna’s—as she hummed-shrieked-sang while putting together her dress for this week’s wedding-themed challenge.

It’s clear the producers or episode editors want us to believe that the Tyra-Tatianna drama was a big diva showdown, but honestly, was it? Seems just like a couple of bitchy queens snipping at each other, more than anything else. I mean, I can just imagine getting annoyed by Tyra’s undeniably irritating ways in the workroom—there’s no doubt that she’s a seriously hateful person—but why’s Tatianna bringing herself down into that mess by tattling to Ru on the Main Stage? My thought is that maybe Tatianna’s ratting Tyra out is the only way she thinks she can compete with the high-flying queen, who cleaned up by winning the challenge last night. As we all saw, Tatianna needed any defense possible, as the judges told her that she’d be in the bottom two if she didn’t have immunity from winning the Snatch Game challenge from two weeks ago.

And, let’s face it: Tyra did deserve to win, regardless of her attitude. The thing about Tyra is that she’s the perfect drag queen in so many ways. Here are three good reasons: 1) She’s beautiful as a lady with that porcelain-looking face and those oh-so-juicy, juicy lips. Really, did you see those lips last night? They were insane, as she sat there bitching about Tatianna! 2) She’s got great style, serving up some of the best looks so far this season on the runway. Hell, regardless of how stupid it sounds, she glue-gunned lacey things to her legs and wrists! This is a gurl who’s willing to be burned for her craft. And 3) She’s got attitude. It seems like maybe we’re forgetting something important as we get in a huff about Tyra’s awfulness: Queens are supposed to have attitude. Right? That’s sort of what they do. So, honestly, Tyra is just doing her thing and not worrying about anyone else. Which, sure, gets my hatred—but also my respect. Some of the other queens on the Main Stage agreed last night, as Ru asked them all what they thought of Tyra’s antics.

The Tyra-Tatianna mess, however, overshadowed what was truly sad about last night’s episode…the auf’ing of Morgan McMichaels. Sure, she was also a little on the bitchy side and had recently entered into some sort of weird and questionable alliance with Raven, but I loved Morgan for the sheer fun that she brought to the show. This is one queen who’ll be missed!

Otherwise, the episode was about as delightful as usual. I thought the Mini Challenge, where the queens had to “queenify” a box, was hilarious just because of all the fun wordplay Ru served up when she came in to choose her favorite. “I’m here,” RuPaul said with glee, “to inspect your box.” She added: “Can I hold your box?” It’s such fifth-grade humor, but whatever—it makes me smile. And Raven’s Edgar Allen Poe-inspired box was genius. Lastly, my other favorite part was the photo results of the wedding challenge, which found the ladies posing as both the groom and the bride. Did it remind anyone else of the alter ego photo shoots that the ladies did on The Real Housewives of Atlanta? I couldn’t help but cackle at the ridiculousness of it all. Raven’s looked convincing; Tyra’s was just so very Tyra; and poor, now-sashayed Morgan’s punk fest was a gem.

ANAL SEX IS ANAL SEX ¿RIGHT?

Anal sex is just one of those things…either you LOVE it or…There is very little in between. Both men and woman have tried it @ some point, and a fair few of them actually enjoy it. People love to be a little bit naughty sometimes, and anal sex is one of those things you can do completely privately, and nobody will ever know you were naughty except you and your partner. However for many, anal sex has a tang of taboo attached to it and I remember overhearing conversations about this activity. During these conversations the ONE thing that stood out is EVERYONE was in agreement that if a hetero man has anal sex, then he can do it with a male…Do you think that’s true? Do you believe that anal sex belongs to homosexual men alone?

¿CAN RELIGIOUS FOLK CLAIM IGNORANCE?

I am the type of man that can accept the choices I make and the things I believe; and contrary to popular belief, I do NOT believe that I am going to hell for being in LOVE with man. The MANY that are SO sure that they are right that they cannot conceive anything else happening to me. However, my question to them is what happens if you are wrong? What if your god does NOT punish me? Do you accept your mistake and say you were brain wash and claim religious ignorance?

It would be REAL interesting for me to see them try doing away with the false programming that dictated to them what is right and wrong. Can you hear them say that they were VERY vulnerable and that the things they were told simply became embedded deeply influencing behavior throughout their lives? After spending SO much time hating on folks like me, how does their god give them what they are SO sure he isn’t going to give us? Wasn’t it they who allowed religion to make them believe they'll be rewarded with infinite bliss in the afterlife with NO way to prove whether or not this true?

Though I don’t agree with their beliefs, I get why they wouldn’t/couldn’t question or examine them…But to go through life believing that their God must hate certain folks should be MORE than enough reason to do so. Moreover, how can such a belief be accepting when it is based on oppression and injustice? No matter how one looks @ it, claiming ignorance later and living in it now does NOT excuse what it has done to us that are “hell bound!” I know that I beat this dead horse religiously, but I can’t help but ask when are they going to see that religion just short-circuits their brains?

I NEED YOU

"I Need You" is a song performed by LeAnn Rimes, and is a single off her album I Need You. It peaked at #11 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

It was featured prominently in the soap opera Days of our Lives as Chloe Lane and Philip Kiriakis' song. The song is also the lead track on the CD titled "Jesus: Music From & Inspired by the Epic Mini Series" that aired on television in 1999.

Noel and I are two unique individual whose fate was pre-destined and as we walk this path together, I dedicate this song to him. This song touches me SO deeply that when I hear it, I feel like I am living off love...as if I am love. I knew from the moment I sent him the first communication that he was the ONE! And I did care if we lasted for a day, a year...5 years because I can’t go back to who I was before he came into my life.

He motivates me spiritually, mentally, intellectually and emotionally. He is the MAN that is tailor-made for me. He is SO open minded, sensitive and secure in who he is. He understands the importance of being an individual as well as being a respective member of a couple; and his spirit and energy lights up my soul whenever I see him…guess it is NO surprise that I need him…I LOVE YOU BABY!

MEN KNOW WHEN THEY’RE AROUSED…WOMEN NOT SO MUCH!

When it comes to sexual arousal, a woman's mind and body are less in sync than a man's, a review of research finds.

Men who reported feeling turned on tended to also sport an erection, while a matchup between the mind and body wasn't so consistent for women, according to the review published online Jan. 4 in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior.

"We wanted to discover how closely people's subjective experience of sexual arousal mirrors their physiological genital response — and whether this differs between men and women," said researcher Meredith Chivers, a psychology professor at Queen's University in Canada.

Chivers and colleagues reviewed more than 130 studies published between 1969 and 2007 involving participants' arousal responses. In total, the review included more than 2,500 women and 1,900 men.
Men's subjective ratings of arousal were in agreement with their body's level of sexual arousal about 66 percent of the time, while women's were in line only about 26 percent of the time.

"The general pattern that I have seen in my laboratory is that women experience a genital response but do not report feeling sexually aroused," Chivers told LiveScience.

Overall, the findings suggest women and men have different experiences of sexual arousal.

"For men, their experience is strongly related to physiological arousal whereas for women it is less so," Chivers said.

Supporting the conclusions, a study reported in 2003 showed men's arousal clearly tracks sexual orientation, with gay men getting turned on by images of men, and straight guys by images of women. In contrast, that 2003 study showed both heterosexual and lesbian women were sexually aroused by male and female erotica, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Figuring out how measures of arousal (mental vs. physiological) differ between men and women will help scientists study human sexuality and understand the nature of these differences, Chivers said.

WOMEN’S WORK…

The term ‘women’s work’ has come to have a derogatory connotation in recent years. Women’s work used to encompass ONLY domestic chores like cooking, cleaning, and raising children. However when a person is limited to only certain kinds of work in a society, there is a need to break free from that work in order to inhabit a place of choice. So with MOST women's decision to take a place in the working world, they pretty much made it a battle ground.

Even though most offices today are dominated in number by female employees I have yet to work in one where the women actually get along with each other, have each other’s best interest @ heart or even refrains from making some snide remark about a fellow female employee. Hence this battle is what I would like to call THE BIGGEST TITS N’ TIGHTEST PUSSY GAME! So when pussy walks in a pair of high heels onto ANY job, it seems as if it brings CONSTANT drama that could cause us that witness it to declare a state of emergency. From where I am standing, it seems like women ONLY exist to make each other miserable by pulling each other down! How does one deal with women that undermine each other? Moreover, why do women treat each other this way? Whatever happened to a woman feeling happy for another woman who looks INCREDIBLE after getting herself fix up? Why they underlying tension and the need to do away with a woman that is perceived as better than you? Is it the perceived shortage of men that is make them act like this? Are they SO busy competing for eligible male attention that they immediately feel hostile in some way toward another if they feel she may have the upper hand?

Most women will look at another woman and say, 'I can't stand her, she thinks she's all that.' When I hear such statements, they prove to me that they are merely emotional creatures. Meaning most logic and reason goes out the window…How logically is it carry hatred for another woman you don’t know OR you’ve never seen before? Everywhere I go, I see the same behavior in women; and @ my current job you have the “social butterflies” and the rest are basically the followers. On the surface, you would think that they must look up to the leaders. But when you pass by, if you look close, you'll see signs of dissension in the ranks.

Secretly, ALL women have their idea of what a complete woman is. I think they believe that the ultimate woman is someone who is appealing to men, has a great sense of style, is classy and has a devoted group of female admirers. So when they see one another possibly attaining even one of these attributes, we see the claws. The scheming and sabotaging PROVES what a former boss told me…His wish was that he could have an ALL MALE staff, but he knows that he would be seen as sexist so he couldn’t do it. I never gave his words that much thought, but as I progressed in my career, I started to wonder how can women break through the glass ceiling if they are ducking verbal blows from other women in cubicles, hallways and conference rooms?

I know it is a dog eat dog world out there, but women REALLY need to learn how to truly appreciate themselves for who they are and what makes them truly beautiful and feminine. Sabotaging each other because they feel that helping their female co-workers could jeopardize their own careers ONLY creates a chaotic working environment. I know that breaking this vicious cycle will be difficult when SO many have been competing with their sisters for their dad’s attention, but if a woman is going to run a company and be seen as an equal to a man, she has to prove that she can get her peers to support her COMPLETELY! Don’t they have enough obstacles already?

I COULD NEVER BE GAY BECAUSE...

Have you ever heard a hetero person that they CANNOT be gay because of some silly reason? Reasons that suggest that we are gay because of our sexual demons or some other God awful reason? So this entry is about the things you heard heteros say when trying to explain why they can’t be gay.

My top 3 (and favorite) are:

God says it is wrong

Men saying the LOVE pussy TOO much

Women saying they LOVE dick TOO much

SO WHAT THE OFF THE WALL THINGS OTHERS SAID TO YOU THAT MADE THEM FEEL YOU HAVE TO BE GAY?
